Colorado River Collegiate Academy earns all possible distinctions

(Bastrop) – The Texas Education Agency released Academic Distinction designations to its 1,200 districts and charter schools across the state. Of the more than 8,600 campuses statewide, Colorado River Collegiate Academy (CRCA) in Bastrop ISD was one of only 400 that earned all possible Academic Distinctions. Though 94% of schools in the state earned the rating of Met Standard, less than 5% of campuses earned all possible Academic Distinctions in addition. CRCA is an early college high school in its third year.

Enrollment in the ACE program is now available. Students attending ACE and/or assigned after-school tutorials who wish to ride the bus MUST register through Beyond the Bell. The steps are: Browse All Programs > BTB After School Program > Registration > Create New BTB account.

BISD Board calls for Tax Ratification and Bond elections

Bastrop ISD Board of Trustees voted Aug. 22 to call for both a $75 million bond and a Tax Ratification Election (TRE) to raise the District’s Maintenance & Operations (M&O) tax rate by 13 cents. The bond would necessitate an Interest & Sinking (I&S) rate increase of 3.9 cents. Voters residing within the District’s attendance zone will be asked to consider the two separate ballot propositions in November.

The Colorado River Collegiate Academy has been designated as a national Mix-It-Up Model School by Teaching Tolerance, a national program that is "dedicated to reducing prejudice, improving inter-group relations and supporting equitable school experiences for our nation's children."

On the evening of Wednesday, May 25th, the Colorado River Collegiate Academy inducted its inaugural class of National Honor Society members. A big congratulations go out to all of our newest NHS members!

StuCo Presents CRCA to Community Officials

On Tuesday, May 24th, CRCA's Student Council members presented CRCA's mission and accomplishments to local community officials. Those present included members of BISD's school board, Superintendent Murray, We Believe in BISD, and the Bastrop Economic Development board.

SUSO! Attends Diversity Dinner

Members of CRCA's Speak Up, Speak Out! civics team were invited by the Texas Young Lawyers Association to attend TYLA's annual Diversity Dinner held at the Austin Club on Monday, May 23rd. Juan Melendez-Colon, the keynote speaker, shared his story of wrongful incarceration on death row for 17 years, 8 months and 1 day.
