Welcome back, parents and students!
I am very excited to be working with all of you this year. We *will* continue to not only set but raise the academic bar. Both the Eng 1301 and English I classes will be challenging yet simultaneously rewarding; they will require much dedication and hard work on everyone’s part. I have only the highest expectations for my students and myself. However, together I know we can continue achieve great things.
I was born in El Paso, Texas, and attended Franklin High School. Upon graduation, I attended Texas A&M University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English. I then enlisted in the United States Navy. During my 5 years in the military I served on two different aircraft carriers and also completed a tour of duty in the Middle East as part of a joint-forces ground operation. After being honorably discharged, I went back to school, and was awarded a Master of Arts in Rhetoric and Composition from Texas State University in 2013. Before coming to CRCA, I taught Pre-AP English I and English for Speakers of Other Languages at Bastrop High School. I have taught in the English department for Concordia University and have worked in the Writing Center for ACC-Elgin. I am also actively teaching as adjunct instructor at St. Edwards University this fall.
I am happily married, and I have two *beautiful* children. I'm looking forward to another incredible year.
